Growing Relationships Through Data
We Help You Grow Relationships Through Data.
Growth is the lifeblood of business, and its most fundamental driver is the relationships a company fosters with prospects, customers and partners.
Over nearly two centuries of helping businesses understand this dynamic, we have honed the expertise of how data and analytics forge the relationships that lead to industry-leading performance. To activate these capabilities, we build – or co-develop with partners – solutions tailored to your role, whether you are in marketing, sales, finance, supply, compliance or information technology. And we deliver this content however you want to consume it.
Our platform’s foundation is the world’s largest commercial database, with over 240 million company records we derive from 30,000 data sources and update 5 million times per day. We integrate this insight into your core systems, workflows and cloud-based apps in ways that enhance their impact, and we also integrate with your existing data and third-party data sources. Our DUNSRight® process gives us the unmatched ability to turn an enormous stream of data into the high-quality information you need to grow your most valuable relationships.
We offer a wide range of solutions for Risk & Finance, Operations & Supply, Sales and Marketing professionals. And some of the largest, most successful technology and service companies in the world embed Dun & Bradstreet data within their offerings. These companies include SalesForce, Oracle, KPMG and SAP.
Dun & Bradstreet grows the most valuable relationships in business by uncovering truth and meaning from data.
We chose every word of our purpose carefully.
DUN & BRADSTREET
We’re going back to using our full name. Because our name is an example of a business relationship formed when two people came together in trust and trade, so let’s acknowledge this rich history.
We illuminate our customers’ paths towards growth by helping inform strategies, opportunities and decisions.
THE MOST VALUABLE RELATIONSHIPS
Above all else, we help our customers unlock the maximum value from their relationships—between data points, between businesses, between people.
We embrace the fact that every customer defines value differently: lowest risk, greatest opportunity, best strategic fit, etc.
Our currency is the relationship between humans when doing business together, anywhere and everywhere in the world.
UNCOVERING TRUTH AND MEANING
We use analytics to seek out stories, answers and knowledge that give our customers transparency and foresight about their worlds.
Our most fundamental, essential raw material—our own, or that from our vendors or customers. In a world besieged by deafening volumes of data, we can find meaning in data and make it work to progress the goals of real people.
For Dun & Bradstreet, we found three values that describe behaviors that empower us to deliver our purpose.
- Data-Inspired -
We are passionate about the power of data. It is at the heart of everything we do.
- Relentlessly Curious
We embrace the changes in the world around us. We know they bring new problems to solve, new things to learn and new ways to grow.
- Inherently Generous
We succeed by helping others succeed. We openly share our time and talent, and we confidently welcome the help of others.
Our Brand Identity
Our Logo Mark: At the Heart of Any Relationship is “&.” – Brother & Sister, Father & Daughter, Sales & Marketing, Dun & Bradstreet. Without the “&”, you are on your own.
In the writing industry, an ampersand is used to indicate a closer-working collaboration between two writers than if they’re credited together with the word and.
Since 1871, an ampersand has appeared in our company name.
When we studied the ampersand, we uncovered a lowercase “d” and an uppercase “B” hidden in its shape.
The Dun & Bradstreet logo mark combines these two letters to form the ampersand: Dun & Bradstreet’s graphic identity.
Our Word Mark: A Return to our Full Name
Our word mark is a return to form, proudly announcing our full name. Because our name is an example of a business relationship formed when two people came together in trust and trade, so let’s acknowledge this rich history.

Ulysses S Grant
William B McKinley
The 1840s in America were a period of unprecedented commercial growth, and with it, unprecedented business risk.
So Dun & Bradstreet (D&B) was born, to provide objective credit assessments on which trading partners on opposite coasts could base their relationships.
Lewis Tappan, the man behind this great idea, envisaged a system where credit would be granted according to sound information gathered methodically by men of strict principle - men such as future U.S. Presidents - Abraham Lincoln, Ulysses S. Grant, Grover Cleveland and William B. McKinley - who served as D&B credit correspondents early in their careers.
Tappan foresaw that business information would be a catalyst for growth, and foster an open and ethical business environment.
Those goals still inform our business today. Since our first offices opened some 165 years ago, they have driven our progress towards market leadership as the trusted business insight provider to customers globally.
- The world’s leading provider of global business information, knowledge and insight
- Established in 1841
