Background

Punjab National Bank (PNB) was established in 1895 and subsequently in 1969 the bank got nationalised. The bank primarily operates in the corporate & retail banking and treasury space.

Business Profile


PNB provides personal, corporate, social, international and business banking services. Its personal banking services include savings accounts, credit schemes and fixed deposit schemes among others. The corporate banking services provided by PNB include EXIM finance, cash management services, etc. and the business sector services include financing for trade and SSIs. Its social banking services cater to the farmers and women. As on Mar 31, 2008 the total business of the bank stood at Rs. 2859.6 bn, registering a y-o-y growth of over 20%. For FY08, priority sector advances constituted over 44% of the bank’s ANBC, where as agriculture credit constituted over 18% of the same. During FY08, PNB opened 150 new branches thus taking its total branch network to 4,589 offices including 322 extension counters as on Mar 31, 2008.
