I am happy to launch the fifth edition of Dun & Bradstreet’s publication on the Indian ITeS-BPO industry, ‘India’s Top ITeS and BPO Companies 2009’. As this key segment of the Indian economy is poised to register steady growth, the publication will remain a valuable resource for organisations that are contemplating outsourcing of their business processes. It will also serve as a platform for the Indian BPO industry to reach out to potential clients as Dun & Bradstreet’s global footprint and market reach will ensure that the publication enjoys wide dissemination.

Even though the current global slowdown has affected economies around the world, the Indian economy continues to perform better than most other emerging economies. According to the IMF’s recent update, the world economy is expected to register a real GDP growth of 3.1% in 2010, up from a de-growth of 1.1% in 2009; the advanced economies are expected to report a growth of 1.3% in 2010, up from a de-growth of 3.4% in 2009, and emerging and developing economies are likely to grow at 5.1%, up from 1.7% during 2009. The Indian economy is likely to remain on the road to faster recovery as compared with most economies around the world and is expected to grow by 6.4% in 2010 up from 5.4% in the previous year, according to IMF.

On a positive note, however, the global slowdown may also open up new avenues for the Indian ITeS-BPO industry, as global companies affected by the financial meltdown may look towards outsourcing and offshoring as an alternative option to tackle the current crisis as a long term strategy. Besides, the impressive performance of the Indian economy has further opened up new markets for the Indian ITeS/BPO sector. Over the past few years, outsourcing of business activities have been increasing in the domestic markets; as a result, the Indian ITeS-BPO companies, which were focusing on the international markets, have been getting ample new opportunities. The Indian ITeS-BPO companies are in an ideal position to leverage the expertise gained over the last decade or so to meet the requirements of the emerging domestic market and also to provide end-to-end solutions to its international clientele.

The publication ‘India’s Top ITeS and BPO Companies 2009’ highlights the performance and future plans of the leading ITeS and BPO companies in India. I am sure that this publication will provide a well-researched information source on the industry.

At Dun & Bradstreet, our endeavour to meet your expectations through our publications will remain steadfast. I look forward to receiving your feedback and suggestions.
