For the 2009 edition of Dun & Bradstreet India’s (D&B India’s) premier publication, ‘India’s Top ITeS and BPO Companies’, the listing parameters are employee size, total income, industry verticals and locations.

The initial list of companies was compiled using D&B India’s internal database. The database was supplemented with information gathered through various other sources such as industry associations, government agencies, and business directories. The 1,800 companies thus identified, were then contacted through direct mailers, reminder letters, telephone calls, faxes and emails apart from an invitation to participate through advertisements in India’s leading business dailies.

The short listing of the eligible companies is primarily based on employee count and total income of the companies. As in our previous publications, the cut-off for employees remains unchanged at 150. The publication considers only the Indian employee base involved in ITeS and BPO operations for the company. The cut-off for total income also remains unchanged at Rs 100 mn. The total income represents the income derived from the ITeS and BPO operations only on a standalone basis. Thus, the companies with either employee count of 150 and above or total income of Rs 100 mn and above were considered for profiling.

This edition continues to carry the ‘Waiting in the Wings’ section. This section contains brief information about companies that do not meet the eligibility criteria, but are emerging and could form part of our next edition.

Although utmost care has been taken while incorporating the latest figures, we have sourced information available in the public domain such as company websites, annual reports, quarterly updates, 10K filings, company presentations and so on in cases where certain companies have not responded,.

The employee count in the publication is as on June 2009. Information was collated for a specific time band of 6 months to ensure fair comparison of facts and figures, as many companies follow different year ends for financial reporting. Accordingly, a disclaimer has been added wherever necessary.

A standardised reporting format has been applied for listing company profiles in the publication. Companies that did not respond to the questionnaire or companies that did not have updated information, have been excluded from the comparative listings.

The editorial team will appreciate if readers keep D&B India regularly updated on key developments in their companies as and when it occurs.

Each company featured in this publication has been allotted a D-U-N-S® number (Data Universal Numbering System), which is a unique identification number that will help readers locate and obtain full-fledged information reports on these companies from the D&B database.

We are confident that our 2009 edition will prove even more useful than the previous editions. We will be pleased to receive your valuable feedback and suggestions, which will be incorporated in the next edition. Your satisfaction remains the goal in Dun & Bradstreet’s journey towards excellence.
