Future Outlook

This chapter provides details on the growth prospects and future plans of the small and medium enterprises that operate in the auto component industry and the textile industry in the National Capital Region (NCR).

Industry growth prospects

According to the survey results, among the surveyed companies across the auto components and textile sectors in the NCR cluster, around 37% expects the respective industries to grow by more than 20% and around 32% expects their respective industries to grow by 0-10%.

Future plans

Capacity expansion, modernisation, tapping unexplored markets as well as diversification are some of the future plans of the respondent companies. Majority of the companies have prioritised the plans to enter new domestic and international markets.

Section A: Auto Component Industry

Industry growth prospects

The survey attempted to understand the players’ views on the growth prospects of the auto components industry and the players were found to be quite optimistic about the same; around 66% of the companies in the cluster projected the industry to grow by more than 20% in the next five years.

Future plans

According to the survey results, most respondent companies in the auto components industry are primarily planning to enter new markets, and then expand their existing capacity to meet market demand over the next five years.

Section B: Textile Industry

Industry growth prospects

According to the players’ feedback on industry’s growth prospects under the survey, majority of the companies (about 45%) had their projections between 0-10% in the next five years. Among the remaining respondents, 10% projected the industry’s growth above 20%; 20% expects the industry to grow between 11-20% and 25% expects the growth to be stagnant.

Future plans

The future plans of the companies operating in the textile industry were similar to those operating in the auto components industry; accordingly, majority of textile companies have plans to enter new markets in the next five years.
