I am happy to launch the third edition of Dun & Bradstreet’s publication, ‘India’s Top PSUs 2010’. This publication will prove to be a valuable resource on Indian public sector enterprises. Dun & Bradstreet’s global footprint and market reach will ensure that the publication is established internationally as the premier resource on Indian public sector enterprises.

In many developed and developing countries, public enterprises contribute significantly to the gross domestic product. India is no exception, as public enterprises, both at the central and state level, have played a prominent role in industrialisation and economic development of the nation. Furthermore, PSUs and department-owned enterprises dominate the infrastructure sectors in India such as railways, post and telegraph, ports, airports and power.

PSUs have adapted well to changing market dynamics and have taken advantage of business opportunities that have arisen out of liberal economic policies. These enterprises have also started looking beyond Indian shores, and some of them have established global business relationships and alliances through joint ventures or subsidiaries.

We are confident that ‘India’s Top PSUs 2010’ will aid the Indian public sector enterprises in promoting business further and in developing useful relationships both overseas and in India.
