Dun & Bradstreet India is pleased to release the second edition of its premium publication ‘India’s Top ITeS and BPO Companies’. The encouraging response to last year’s publication, coupled with the continued growth of the outsourcing sector is reflected in the second edition, which now features over 200 companies, including captive outsourcing organisations.

In ‘India’s Top ITeS and BPO Companies 2006’, we continue to collate an exhaustive information resource covering a very wide swathe of the ITeS-BPO industry. While our criteria for selection remain as before, the number of companies profiled have increased. The companies are listed by employee size, delivery centre locations and verticals serviced.

The service sector in India continued to show a healthy growth rate of 10.3% in FY06. With a share of 60% in the country’s GDP, this sector remains attractive. Total services exports in FY06 were worth nearly US$ 41 bn. Software exports accounted for US$ 23.4 bn. Year on year, software exports are estimated to have grown at the rate of 32.2%. According to the National Association of Software and Service Companies (NASSCOM), at this rate of growth, this segment alone will touch US$ 60 bn by 2010, if not sooner.

BPO will play a vital role if India is to achieve this US$ 60 bn target by 2010. In 2005-06, the ITeS-BPO segment is estimated to account for nearly 26.9% of the total software and services exports from India. The growth rate in this sector — at 40% — actually exceeds that of software and services exports as a whole.

Recognising the contribution of the captive outsourcing segment — which retains a significant share of the total outsourcing pie — we have included a listing of captive outsourcing organisations in this year’s edition.

The ITeS-BPO space is developing quickly and we will continue to see this dynamism reflected in outsourcing firms, as new opportunities and threats drive change. While the bulk of the industry is involved in services to the BFSI and Telecom industry verticals, new types of services, such as those related to Human Resources processes, are gaining traction.

The 2006 edition of ‘India’s Top ITeS and BPO Companies’ provides key statistics — such as employee size, verticals serviced and delivery locations — for companies listed in it. Additionally, it also provides information on the history, operations and financial performance of these companies.

I am sure that you will find this publication useful.
