D&B announces SME Business Excellence Awards 2015

The awards felicitated 26 of India’s leading Small and Medium Enterprises of India for their significant achievement and contribution over the years. The occasion also marked the launch of Dun & Bradstreet’s premier publication, Leading SMEs of India 2015.

About ‘Leading SMEs of India 2015’

Dun & Bradstreet, the world’s leading provider of business information, knowledge and insight is pleased to announce the release of the sixth edition of its premier publication, ‘Leading SMEs of India 2015’, a leading compendium on the Indian SME industry. The publication profiles 100 SMEs and Mid-Corporates that have shown strong performance and potential for the future. These Select 100 Enterprises constitute the base of our study and analysis presented in the publication. They belong to a range of sectors including Engineering & Machinery, Chemicals & Pharmaceuticals, IT & ITeS, Professional & Business services and Textiles & Garments among others.

Some of the key findings of this Select 100 is as under:

  • Majority (66%) of the Select • 100 are manufacturing enterprises. Out of which, majority (52%) are Private Limited entities. In the services sector, private limited enterprises account for 82.4% of the Select 100 enterprises.
  • Engineering & machinery, chemicals & pharmaceuticals and IT-ITeS are the three prominent industries constituting around 52% of the Select 100 enterprises operating in these industries.
  • Aggregate total turnover of the Select 100 enterprises grew by around 19% in FY15. Further, aggregate export revenue grew by 14.8% in FY15.
  • Within the Select 100 there were 49% enterprises in the turnover below ` 500 mn bracket. Further, it was noticeable that 68% of services enterprises fall under the income bracket of below ` 500 mn with major representation from the IT/ITeS industry. Similarly, 39% of the manufacturing enterprises fall under this income bracket with major representation from Engineering & Machinery sector.
  • More than two-third (68%) of enterprises were involved in export of goods and services. Out of which 24% is accounted by Engineering & Machinery segment.
  • Net Profit Margin (NPM) has improved from around 4% in FY13 to 5% in FY15. Around 42% of the Select100 enterprises recorded NPM of more than 5%.
  • Nearly 41% of the Select 100 enterprises recorded Return on Equity (RoE) above 20% in FY15.
