Covid-19 Implications on the Real Estate sector and Outlook

As most of the economic activities came to a grinding halt, the real estate sector too witnessed a disruption in the raw material supply chain, leading to limited availability and rising input cost. Due to migration, availability of labour was a challenge, which severely impacted the construction activities at the project sites across the country. Apprehension of economic slowdown and probability of job losses led to a weakening of consumer sentiments.

Decoding Union Budget 2021-22 for MSMEs

Dr. Arun Singh, Global Chief Economist, Dun & Bradstreet touched upon three key areas in the webinar:

- Impact analysis of Union Budget 2021-22 on MSMEs

- Expectations from 2021: Implications for businesses

- Key MSME business trends in 2021

Speaking at the webinar, Dr. Singh pointed out on the allocation of Rs 100 bn for Guarantee Emergency Credit Line (GECL) facility, is expected to help MSMEs meet their operational liabilities and restart their businesses in the aftermath of the COVID-19 pandemic

The government’s agenda of improving the ease of doing business is clearly visible through the various measures announced such as the revision in definition of small companies, increase in the audit threshold limit, decriminalization of the LLP Act, incentivization of OPCs etc.

Increased allocation towards the other sectors, particularly infrastructure, will benefit the MSME sector through a multiplier effect.
